Berlin: The young and the Tasty …

Location / Design

Tasty can be found at “the supposedly hip again (but not really)” western End of the city (off-Kudamm). Glass front to the street opens into a bar cum restaurant cum tiny dance-floor set-up. Otherwise nothing noteworthy about the design.

Crowd

Attracts the 19 to 27 year old crowd and those bigger spenders interested in them. Limited sophistication, mainly students and “Auszubildende” in search of the better life.

Food

Surprisingly positive. The cesar wasn’t your usual off-the-shelf stuff but a rather creamy, delicate and indivdidual palate. The shrimp as always a challenge as very few people are able to get them “a point” (they are either overcooked or partly raw/cold), of which Tasty makes a case in point. The starter selection equally decent. Another positive: they serve “late night” food till 3am.

Beverages

Elaborate selection of whiskeys and vodkas. Even the GI whiskey collector was quite impressed. Champagne: Moet & Chandon … and that was pretty much it (the only TV screen in the place constantly showing “Be fabulous” ads of that brand.

Overall Value & Rating

If you look for a young crowd ready to be impressed, here is your place. Bar staff friendly and eager to please, although certain basics still to be improved upon (won’t tell you what that is!)
