Fashion tendences/FW 2013/2014/40s

suite française: this is the message behind the Louis Vuitton show. For next A/W season Marc Jacobs imagines a 40’s woman, the typical protagonist of Irène Némirovsky’s books: a bourgeois woman in love with the wrong man, strong and courageous, a woman who asks herself too many questions, is too often tormented by sense of guilt but, only in the arms of her lover, she can rediscovers her sensuality and a type of femininity never experienced before. A bourgeois woman leaving a hotel after a fleeting rendez-vous, clad in the first piece of clothing she gets her hands on without thinking or choosing: mini pullovers in mohair matched with pencil skirts or a slip with lace embroideries and her man’s tweed jacket, slightly out of size and cinched at the waist with a man’s style belt or the lace gown of the previous night, the one worn for an evening at the Opéra combined with such a lightweight fur coat to resemble a robe du chambre. However, the focus at Louis Vuitton is all on the accessories and for next autumn, the maison’s iconic bags are offered in precious and unusual materials such as marabou, croco skin and feathers.
