GI: Roman Mokrov’s photo and video series features the story of a small out-of-the-way provincial town. Concrete, boxlike buildings, precise lines, slums and wastelands. In the background you can make out country houses, an overgrown pond, a field and a forest. And this variety of ’life-forms’ is haunted by the shadow of a nearby megalopolis. It is almost Moscow but not-quite-Moscow.
