The Montcalm or Sanctum Soho – which hotel would you choose?

The Montcalm

This is a perfect place if you want to dance until the early hours, so a crash pad is called for. Tucked away in marble Arch, it is ideally situated for a lat-minute outfit search at Selfridges. Once you have arrived you do not want to leave!

If you choose Wow Suite you will find a round bed in the middle of huge room. It is plainly decorated, so there is a slightly corporate feel, but the entire luxurious touches make up for it: soft pillows, flat screen TV, Acqua di Parma goodies.

The added bonus? A softly lit cocktail bar that will be still open when you return in the early hors – and will serve a mean Blood Mary.

Sanctum Soho

Do not be fooled by the name – there is nothing quite or low key about this boutique hotel in the heart of London’s party quarter. A hedonists’ paradise, your suit may come complete with disco lighting, dramatic mirror-mosaic-tiled pillar and, resplendent in the middle of the room, a roll-top bath. Aimed squarely at touring rock bands, it is a geart HQ for a lost weekend in the city.

Do not also miss a bar on the roof terrace (a rare find in Soho) – although those of nervous disposition may wish to give the rooftop Jacuzzi, famed for its lively atmosphere, a miss…
